Who we are
About Qrwear
Qrwear is an independent educational site about wearable QR technology: the codes on wristbands, badges, lanyards and labels that connect a physical object to a web page.
Why this site exists
QR codes got cheap and easy to print, so they started showing up everywhere, including on things people wear. Some of those uses are great. A caregiver's phone number on a wristband can bring a lost person home faster. A volunteer badge can show a role without showing a home address. Others put far too much on display, or exist only because someone could build them. We started Qrwear to help people tell the difference.
Who we write for
People with disabilities and the people who support them. Families, caregivers and older adults. Schools, universities, nonprofits and community groups. Event organizers, outdoor clubs and travelers. Accessibility professionals, designers and developers who want to build carefully. We write for readers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, with some local attention to South Carolina, where much of our event coverage starts.
What we cover
Six sections: accessibility, wearable qr technology, emergency information, digital identity, privacy, QR security. The common thread is one question: does this code help the person wearing it, without exposing more than it needs to?
How we write and check articles
- We start from a real need, not a product. If a printed card does the job better, we say so.
- We don't publish medical, legal or financial advice. Where a reader needs a professional, we say that plainly.
- We check facts against primary sources such as government agencies and standards bodies, and we link to them.
- We don't invent statistics, quotes or testimonials. If we can't confirm something, we leave it out.
- We never encourage anyone to put sensitive medical, financial, legal or identifying details on a public code.
- Advertising is kept separate from editorial. Sponsored content, if we run it, is labeled. See our disclaimer for details.
- Corrections are welcome. Send them through our contact page and we'll fix errors quickly and note the change.
